We can trace the origins of our storms to three primary sources.  Some storms are caused by the irresponsible actions of other people, and some are engineered by the devil to attempt to distract and/or test us.  However, a good many of our storms are of our own making.  In other words, our storms are the direct consequence of sin in our lives.

In Jonah's case, his storm was a direct consequence of his disobedience. Likewise, sometimes we make poor decisions or behave in such a way that stirs up devastating storms that create all kinds of broken relationships, hurt and strife.   I see this often when dealing with people.  People will walk in the flesh and then wonder why there is such an onslaugh of evil against them.  In short, their ungodly behavior has opened a door to demonic activity.

When storms result from our sin, we must first repent of that sin before even attempting to work through the consequences.  Our repentence and humility invites the LORD to help us turn around the situation.  He can cause restoration and  favor to come, but He also expects you to grow spiritually.  Walking in the flesh should occur less and less as you mature in your faith.

Pray this:  God, show me if there is sin in my life that is causing a sotrm.  I confess it and turn from it.  In Jesus' Name, I pray.  Amen.

SPIRITUAL WEAPONS HANDBOOK has many teaching that will help you to grow spiritually and learn how to please the LORD.
